David,
You can tell the two young students about some of your experiences in Boy Scouts. they may enjoy hearing about Polar Bear swims or snipe hunting with the youngest scouts, or the skit about "Scrub Scout". They might also enjoy hearing about your dog and how she used to love getting into the garbage. tell them about learning to ski or learning to drive on ice in Reno. They will enjoy hearing about you and things you're genuinely interested in. Your 150 mile bicycle ride for MS is also a possible topic. For books, you could find Dr. Seuss or Where the Wild Things Are online, I bet.

That's awesome! Treat him like any first grader. Expand his horizons based on vocabulary. There's a really cool book called One Million Things Visual Encyclopedia that I recommend to all of my parents. You can get it from Amazon.

I would suggest you search the web for free materials, there are tons out there that many "homeschool" families use. Since you have little to no budget I think that would probably be your best bet. Look for first and second grade materials and at least get an idea of what type of language skills are being taught to kids of a comparable level in this country. If you need more help or specifics let me know and I will see what I can find for you.
